A story about passion for shipping

Dedication for work (in a new perspective)

Thus the company only being almost a decade old, the team behind the wheel has a lot more experience than that. Raised up in the small municipality Vålax, south of Porvoo, Finland, the two brothers Dennis and David Saari got to experience shipping for the first time. At that time Vålax were heavily trafficed with small sandbarges, one of them being owned and operated by their father Reijo Saari, who at the time was the 4th generation Saari at sea. It is therefore safe to say that the two brothers, with shipping in their blood, had their future already planned out. Interested in the story up until Sea-Lake?

Sea Shipping

Established in 2016, Sea-Lake Shipping moved in to the market under 2017 when we bought the 1576 dwt. coaster Jennifer. After about 1 year on the spotmarket it was time to move into another project...

Lake Shipping

In 2018 a contract regarding the tunnel project "Förbifart Stockholm",  issued by the Swedish Transport Administration, was established. This resulted in a trade spanning over 5 years in lake Mälaren.

Inshore Shipping

Meanwhile the trade on lake Mälaren was in full swing, in the spring of 2022 the 700 dwt. coaster Leonie was acquired. Immediately she began to operate in the domestic waters of Finland. After the first season she got a well deserved refreshment and some neccesary upgrades such as steel tanktop and hatches as well as an excavator. All this has allowed her to offer better and more efficient shipping solutions.

Ice Shipping

Another side project during the trade at lake Mälaren was to acquire a handfull of tugboats in various sizes to assist when the icy nordic winter gets hard, and sure they did. During the winter season the tugboats has had various duties as for instance breaking ice in harbours and keeping fairways opened and clear of ice.
